Martha E. (Hilbert) Parrino, 93, of Marathon, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Cortland Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cortland, New York.
Born on June 10, 1931, in Wurzburg, Germany to the late Anton and Maria Hilbert, Martha’s life was a testament to strength and resilience.
In 1955, Martha moved to Staten Island, New York, to join the love of her life, Salvatore J. Parrino. Then in 1992, they relocated to Upstate New York.
Martha had a gift for brightening any room with her radiant smile and warm spirit. Her greatest pride was raising her children and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren thrive. A gifted cook, Martha's meals, made with love, will always be remembered by those who were lucky enough to enjoy them. She found joy in the simple things, from watching hummingbirds to observing the other wildlife that visited her property. She was an avid viewer of game shows, judge shows, country westerns, and Polka Joe. Country music brought her great joy, and continued doing so even in the last days of her life.
As a mother, Martha's love and devotion knew no bounds. She is survived by her children: Marie (Peter) DeFresco, Charles Parrino, Anthony (Sue) Parrino, and Joseph Parrino. Martha was also a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and a beloved great-grandmother to many. She also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family who cherished her dearly.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Salvatore J. Parrino, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage, as well as her sons, Salvatore Parrino Jr. and Harry Parrino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Whitney Point, NY, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. A memorial luncheon will follow downstairs driectly after the Mass. Martha will be remembered for the profound impact she had on the lives of her family and friends. Her legacy of love, strength and resilience will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
