Mark E. Piech, 62, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lisle, NY, on Friday, April 5, 2024.
Mark was born in Johnson City, NY, on November 20, 1961, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Feisthamel Piech. A longtime resident of the area, he was a graduate of Dryden Central School and had been employed as a traffic control coordinator for Fleetwash, Inc., Homer, NY. Prior to that, he had worked at Suit-Kote, J.P. Riley, and Pennsylvania Gas Pads. He was a proud member of the Labor Local Union #589 and a former member of the Snow Duster’s Snowmobile Club. His true joy came from the great outdoors where he found peace and happiness while hunting and fishing.
Mark is survived by his wife, with whom he was married for 24 years but together for over 40 years, Phoebe Gerrard Piech; and his daughters, Haley (Justin Morgan) Piech of Lisle, Heather Holmes of Whitney Point, and Holly (Billy McAllister) Holmes of Lisle; and his mother, Elizabeth Piech of Lansing. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Hannah (Cody Brown) McAllister, Hunter McAllister, and Kendra Hand; his great-grandchildren, Brayden and Harper Brown; a sister, Tina (Bill) Phelps of Lansing; nephews, Timothy (Jennifer) Phelps and Michael (Drusilla) Phelps, all of Lansing; brothers-in-law, Daniel (Susan) Gerrard of Glen Aubry and Steven Soper of Marathon; sister-in-law, Stephanie (Kevin) Dean of Coventry; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, and special friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Joseph ; a sister, Mary Piech; a sister-in-law, Sallie Soshinsky; and a brother-in-law, Robert Gerrard, Jr.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Marathon Memorial Chapel, 4071 State Route 221, Marathon, NY, on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Memorial services will be held at the funeral home at the conclusion of calling hours at 2:30 p.m. Friends are invited to join the family at the Marathon Civic Center immediately following the memorial services.
Mark's warm smile and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace as he continues to watch over his beloved family from above.
