Jerry A. Wilcox

Jerry A. Wilcox, a cherished member of the Marathon community, passed away peacefully at his home in Marathon, NY, on April 4, 2025, at the age of 80.

Jerry was born on May 15, 1944, in Cortland, NY. His life was marked by his deep passion for antiques, which he pursued throughout his career as a longtime dealer and broad-spectrum collector. His expertise also led him to serve as an auctioneer, where he shared his love for unique finds with others.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jerry dedicated his time to community service, notably as a board member for the 1890 House for several years. His contributions to the local cultural landscape will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.

An alumnus of Marathon Central School, Jerry furthered his education by receiving a master’s degree from New Paltz State University. This educational foundation supported his endeavors, both in business and in service to his community.

Jerry is survived by his partner of 43 years, Thomas Carman, of Marathon, and his son, Sean Michael Wilcox, of Cortland. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Wilcox, of Marathon, as well as several grandchildren who brought him immense joy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Wilcox, his mother, Marie Johnson Wilcox, and his sisters, Sheila Wilcox and Nancy Wilcox.

A period of visitation for Jerry will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Marathon Memorial Chapel. Following the visitation, there will be a Celebration of Life beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial in Upper Lisle Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on through the many lives he touched.
