Jennifer A. Alexy

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beautiful and gifted daughter, Jennifer Ashley Alexy, on July 20, 2021.

A motivated and bright light, she embraced her children, family, and friends. Jennifer was self-employed throughout her life but said her most important job was loving and caring for her children, Victor (16) and Anya (13). Nothing mattered more.

Jennifer is survived by Victor and Anya; their father Michael Gofkowski; her loving parents, Donald and Cynthia Alexy; her best friends, twin brother Bill and Shannon Alexy and their 7 children; and her baby sister, Gretel-Ann Alexy Fischer and Brian and their two children. She is also survived by several aunts and uncles and cousins who she cherished, and a group of close and important friends

Jennifer was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer and was given a short life expectancy. Though fiercely private about her journey, she wanted it known, now, that for eight years she was never off chemo, either having it daily, weekly, or monthly. During that time she worked every day and enjoyed life completely. She shares her story now to encourage others to be fierce in your self-advocacy…never taking no for an answer…never listen to negative reports, and to fight, fight, fight.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Marathon Memorial Chapel, 4071 State Route 221, Marathon, NY, on Sunday, July 25, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Stephen’s Church, Marathon, on Monday, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Corey Van Kuren, celebrant.
