Harry David Hartman

Harry David Hartman, 82, of Marathon, NY, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at his home, while surrounded by his family.

 

Born on February 12, 1941, Harry was the son of the late James and Alice Snyder Hartman.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army as an MP while stationed in Korea.  He was the former owner of the Gallery of Machines in Marathon and was a local employer of many people since 1979.  He had previously been employed as a teacher for the Tompkins County BOCES and Hannibal Central School.  He had also worked at Morse Chain and as a model shop manager for NCR.  Harry was a member of the Marathon Lions Club and was an avid toy train and steel toy collector.

 

He is survived by his long-time partner, Sharon Trokanski, of Marathon; and his children, Jackie (Paul) Lagana of Bangor, PA, Jolene (John) Longo of Syracuse, Jason (Kelly) Prentice of Cortland, Bret (Mandy) Hartman of Baldwinsville, Derek (Danielle) Hartman of Marathon, and Alex (Hillary) Hartman of Marathon.  He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Glendalee Hartman, and a brother, Dr. James Keith Hartman.

 

Memorial services for Harry will be held at the Marathon Memorial Chapel, 4071 State Route 221, Marathon, on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. with Reverend Tom Boice officiating.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the start of the service at 5:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Harry may be directed to the Marathon Lions Club, P.O. Box 241, Marathon, NY 13803.
