Gary L. Cook, Sr.

Gary L. Cook, Sr., 86, of Willet, NY, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at his home.

Gary was born in Cortland, NY, on November 5, 1937, the son of the late Laurence and Gertrude Underwood Cook.  A lifetime resident of the area, he retired from the U.S. Post Office in Cortland after several years of service.  In his spare time, Gary enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Knickerbocker Country Club.  He also enjoyed bowling and would often bowl at Cortland Lanes.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Foster Cook; and his children, Gary Laurence (Donna) Cook, Jr. of Keene, NH, Darleen (Alan) Heath of Marathon, and Michelle (Harry) Dillon of Gilbert, AZ.  He also leaves behind his stepchildren, Grant (Teresa) Whaley of South Carolina and Grace (Bob) Pinney of Norwich; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Ida Fritts Cook, in 2008; a brother, Bradley Cook and a sister, Sylva Cook.
