Eddy L. O'Neill

Eddy L. O’Neill, 70, of Freetown, NY, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at his home, while surrounded by his family.

Eddy was born in Cortland, NY, on April 23, 1953, the son of the late Edward O’Neill, Jr. and Florence Sheppard O’Neill.  Prior to his retirement, he worked as a woodworker for Robinson’s Woodshop in Cortland.  Eddy was a member of the Osco-Robinson American Legion Post #617, Marathon.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed riding motorcycle, fishing and camping and also enjoyed playing his guitar.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Melissa Morris O’Neill; six children; several grandchildren; 11 siblings; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mariah Watson; a brother, James O’Neill; and a sister, Bonnie O’Neill.

In keeping with Eddy’s wishes, graveside services at the Marathon Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
