Dr. Edward Tillotson, DVM, 79, of Killawog, NY passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 27, 2024, with his family beside him, and is now in his forever home with Jesus.
Ed is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth, his children, Kelly (Ken Smith) of Marathon, Jeffrey (Angela) of Lebanon, TN, and Michael (Jennifer) of New Hartford, NY, his grandchildren, Aiden, Jonathan, Brian, and Elizabeth, his siblings, Joyce Henderson, Doug (Brenda) Tillotson, Bob (Mary) Tillotson, Kathy (Neil) Fifield, Steve (Jeanette) Tillotson, Julie (Ugo) Antenucci, Laurie (George) Tebbe, and his late brother’s companion, Marie Zupancic, sisters and brothers-in-law Doug (Bev) Diekow, Kathryn (Jim) Barrows, Kay Diekow, Art (Peg) Diekow, and thirty-one nieces and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Maud Tillotson, brother Ken Tillotson, sister-in-law Donna Brown, and brother-in-law Wendell Henderson.
Ed graduated from Cornell University and its veterinary college in 1970. Known locally as “Doc,” he was a practicing veterinarian for 50 years, retiring in 2020. Ed’s second love was basketball. He worked hard to get his coaching certificate and coached Cincinnatus Girls modified basketball 1996-1997 and was the assistant coach for Cincinnatus Boys modified basketball in 1999. He was a member of the Marathon Lions Club for 49 years.
Funeral services will be at Marathon Memorial Chapel, 4071 State Route 221, Marathon, NY on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Victoria Swatloski officiating. Burial will be in Center Lisle Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 1:00 p.m. In memory of Ed, contributions may be made to the Killawog Methodist Church, 615 Jennings Creek Road, Marathon, NY, or Marathon Lions Club, P.O. Box 241, Marathon, NY.
