Donald W. Muckey

Donald W. Muckey, 85, of Marathon, NY, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, June 14, 2021.

Don was born in Lisle, NY, on January 24, 1936, the son of the late Charles and Mildred Pendell Honour and adopted parents, Clark and Elsie Muckey. A lifelong resident of the area, he served as the highway superintendent for the Village of Marathon and the Town of Lapeer. He had also worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Marathon, Cortland County Highway Department, and the Town of Harford. In his spare time, Don was an avid blue bird enthusiast and hunter who loved his International Harvester tractors.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Parker Muckey; and his daughters, Donna (Jeff) Nedrow of Lansing and Darlene (Timothy) Graham of Union Springs. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Adam (Erica) Nedrow, Patrick (Kaysee) Nedrow, Sara (Eric) Aaserud, and Katie Graham; his great-grandchildren, Grace Aaserud, Kane Nedrow, and Isla Aaserud; a brother, Tom Honour of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Honour; and sisters, Etola Greenwood, Fannie Gardiner, and Jacquelyn Tucker.

In keeping with his wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Don may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
