Bonnie J. Finch

Bonnie J. (VanDee) Finch, 58, of Marathon, NY, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY.

Bonnie was born in Cortland, NY, on February 26, 1963, the daughter of the late Floyd and Rose Sartwell VanDee. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Marathon. A 1981 graduate of DeRuyter Central School, she had worked for First Transit of Cortland for several years. Bonnie enjoyed crocheting and collecting candles. The true love of her life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Phillip Finch; and her children, Charles (Colleen) Heinly of Norwich, Matthew (Michele) Heinly of Canastota, Robyn (Peter) Boughton of Marathon, Michelle (Matthew) Ackerson of McDonough, and Ryan Finch of Marathon. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren; her siblings, David (Sheila) VanDee of Truxton, Connie VanDee of Cuyler, and Rosemarie (David) VanDee of New Jersey; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Terry VanDee.

A memorial service will be held at the Marathon Memorial Chapel, 4071 State Route 221, Marathon, NY, on Monday, July 19, 2021, at 12:00 noon with Reverend Will Gallerani officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service at noon.
